With seven gold Olympic medals to her name, and a further two silver and two bronze to add to her collection, she might be the most decorated gymnast of all time, but Simone Biles’ dogs are another one of her greatest passions in life.

The Olympian, who has 30 World Championship medals in total, has claimed her love for dogs started as a child, as she was always surrounded by four-legged friends when she was growing up. But it wasn’t until 2018 that 28-year-old Simone decided to adopt two French Bulldogs of her own. Now, in 2025, she has plans to add one more dog to her fur family.

To find out everything there is to know about Simone’s dogs, including their names, ages, and the dog breed the star plans on adopting this year, keep scrolling. We also spoke to vet, Dr Hannah Godfrey, who has shared information on breed characteristics and temperament.

How many dogs does Simone Biles have?

Simone Biles is a true dog lover. At present, the highly decorated Olympian has two dogs named Lilo and Rambo Biles, whom she adopted in 2018 and 2020, respectively.

Like most pet parents, Simone was keen to show off her fur babies to the world. So it wasn’t long after that the pair gained their own Instagram profile, @thebilesfrenchies.

So far, Lilo and Rambo have clocked up just over 70,000 followers on the platform. On their page, the duo can be seen taking in the sights of Chicago, enjoying a doggy day camp while Simone was away in Paris, and coming face to face with a horse.

But these aren't the only two pooches in the family. Simone is married to American football player Jonathan Owens, who plays for the Chicago Bears. The NFL star has his own English Bulldog, Zeus.

On March 30th this year, the pair who are currently renovating their home in Texas, announced that they would be adopting a Doberman later in 2025.

Reposting an Instagram story from @regalempiredobermans, the post said: "Congratulations to @jowens & @simonebiles. They will be getting their Regal Empire Doberman later this year."

How old are Simone Biles’ dogs?

According to their Instagram page, Lilo is the oldest of Simone Biles’ dogs as her birthday is on November 28th, 2017, which makes her seven-and-a-half years old.

Rambo was born in 2020, so is just over five years old after celebrating his birthday this year on January 8th.

What types of dogs does Simone Biles have?

Both Lilo and Rambo are French Bulldogs. If you're not familiar with this breed, this charming type of dog has an appetite for play and mischief. But despite their love for fun, French Bulldogs are often characterized as a low-energy dog breed as they're just as happy hanging out on the couch with their favorite human and enjoying endless snuggles.

“French Bulldogs are loving, fun, playful dogs who are enthusiastic about everything – even going to the vet (mostly)!”, Dr Godfrey explains. “They’re sociable and brave when it comes to meeting new dogs and new people.”

As we're sure Simone can vouch for, French Bulldogs make lovely companions and loving additions to the family as they're one of the friendliest dog breeds around.

“They’re great with children and they don’t tend to bark or get protective,” Dr Godfrey adds. “However, they are prone to health problems, most concerningly, breathing trouble, because they often have a short nose and narrow airways.”

That’s because they are a brachycephalic dog breed, which means “short-headed”, and this term is used to describe dogs that have flat faces and shortened muzzles. While some might think that this appearance is cute, it can really affect their breathing.

“To try to protect the future of the breed, it’s essential to choose a French Bulldog with a longer nose and a good conformation, or rescue one, of course,” Dr Godfrey highlights.

In Simone's biography Courage to Soar: A Body in Motion, A Life in Balance, which was published in 2016, the 28-year-old has previously opened up about her and her sister Adria growing up with German Shepherd dogs during their childhood.

In her book, she writes: "When we come home, Adria and I will change into shorts and race around the house with our four German Shepherds, whose doggie beds are lined up in the hallway right outside my bedroom door.

“There’s Maggie, the dog we got after my level nine Westerns, and then there are her puppies Lily, Atlas, and Bella, who were bred at the same farm where we found Maggie."

However, in 2021, the gymnast took to Instagram to reveal that she was bitten by this breed of dog. On her Instagram story, she wrote: “German Shepherds don't play. I've grown up my whole life with German Shepherds and never got bit. This dog at the farm just said NOT TODAY."

That said, while a German Shepherd might top the list when it comes to being one of the best guard dog breeds , this easy-to-train and fiercely loyal breed is usually a gentle giant.

“German Shepherds are usually gentle giants,” confirms Dr Godfrey. “A close family friend had several when I was growing up, and they were the loveliest dogs. They’re affectionate, clever, and easy to train. They can be very vocal, though, especially when they’re anxious, and they get bored easily, so they need plenty to keep them occupied!"

How much are Simone Biles’ dogs worth?

The million-dollar question! Well, while there is no information on just how much Simone Biles' dogs are worth, the dogs have quite the business empire ahead of them.

Lilo, Rambo, and Simone partnered with Nulo, which is one of the fastest-growing major pet food brands in the US, to help spread the word about the importance of good dog nutrition.

Sharing a promotional video for the brand, athlete Simone is quoted as saying: “Pets rely on us to make the best decisions for their health and happiness, including what we choose to put into their bowl every day.

"As an athlete, I’ve come to appreciate the importance of fueling my body with the right nutrition, and I feel the same way when it comes to feeding my dogs.”
