Microchip feeders are the easiest way to stop your cats from stealing each other's food – and I've just spotted this premium model with a saving of $93 in the Amazon Prime Day sale.
So how do they work? Each cat has their own bowl, which only opens for them. It's registered to their unique microchip number (or to an electronic ID tag fitted on their collar), and the bowl detects which cat is attempting to eat the food.
This is particularly helpful if your cats need to be on different diets – whether due to medical conditions or age – or if one of them is getting a little too greedy for their own good and becoming overweight.
It might look a little intimidating to set up, but our testers reassured me that it's super easy to get the hang of – simply press the 'add pet' button, encourage your cat to go near the food bowl, and the device will pair with your cat. Every time they go up to their bowl in the future, it will open just for them.
Don't worry if your cat isn't microchipped yet – the feeder comes with an electronic ID disk that you can attach to their collar, which works in the same way. It's compatible with most microchip numbers, including ISO and 15-digit styles.
I love how it works with both the best wet cat food and the best dry cat food, so you have flexibility in what you feed them. The closed lid and ice pack compartment ensure their food stays fresh – unlike traditional bowls that attract flies and stink out your home.
