Jennifer Aniston’s dogs attract almost as much attention as the actress herself, with people flooding her social media pages with loving comments every time her beloved canine companions make an appearance.

The star has long been a devoted animal welfare advocate and a staunch supporter of forgoing pet shops in favor of animal shelters. Ever since she shot to fame as Rachel Green in the smash TV show Friends, Aniston has never been without a pooch by her side.

Below you’ll find everything you need to know about Jennifer Aniston’s dogs, including her most recent addition, who has the cutest name we’ve ever heard!

How many dogs does Jennifer Aniston have?

Aniston has always been a huge dog lover and currently has three: Clyde, Sophie, and Lord Chesterfield. She was also once mum to Norman, a Welsh Corgi who was her constant companion during her time on the hit TV show Friends and died at the age of 15 in 2011, and a white German Shepherd named Dolly.

What breed are Jennifer Aniston’s dogs?

Currently mum to three rescue dogs, Aniston’s furry family includes Clyde, who is a gray Schnauzer mix, Sophie, a black and white Pit Bull mix, and Lord Chesterfield, who’s a white Shepherd mix.

Dolly was Aniston’s longtime canine companion who she adopted as a puppy in 2005 following her split from actor Brad Pitt. Dolly died in 2019 at the age of 14 and ex-husband Justin Theroux shared a touching tribute on Instagram after the pair held a ceremony together in honor of their beloved companion.

Introducing Lord Chesterfield

In October 2020, just over a year after Dolly’s death, Aniston showed off the newest addition to her family, a small puppy she named Lord Chesterfield. In the September 2021 issue of InStyle, the star confessed that the little dog had a huge love of toys:

"Sofie doesn't care about toys. Clyde has an obsession with toys … he buries them all over the property. Then Chesterfield came along, also with the love of toys, and it was war," she said, adding that Lord Chesterfield has "rocked our worlds" since he arrived in 2020.

Baby turns one

Taking to Instagram on the 12th of October, Aniston was overjoyed to celebrate Lord Chesterfield’s first birthday, revealing to her fans just how much the white Shepherd mix has grown over the past 12 months.

Marley & Me

It’s been 13 years since the release of the hit film Marley & Me starring Aniston, Owen Wilson and 22 Labradors of different sizes who played the role of Marley. And yet even after all these years the star still has a soft spot in her heart for the bundles of fur that filled her days on set with fun and laughter.

Hitting the polls

Clyde featured strongly in many of Aniston’s messages encouraging people to show their support for the now president Joe Biden during the 2020 election. In a short clip, Clyde asked the American public to ‘choose their humans wisely’ and he later appeared on her Instagram page with a ‘I voted’ sticker on his head.

The Morning Show

Being the smallest of Aniston’s crew and the most easily portable, Clyde is also the one the actress most regularly takes with her to work with the little Schnauzer regularly accompanying her onto the set of The Morning Show.
